So...what do "1000 GSM GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton" and "FSC-Certified Packaging" even mean?

1000 GSM = Grams Per Square Meter
The GSM measures the density of the towel. Higher GSMs mean heavier, thicker, and more absorbent. 1000 falls on the extreme high end of the spectrum, meaning that these towels are extremely plush and absorbent. Think luxury spa towels versus lightweight beach towels. A high GSM doesn't automatically make a towel better or worse, but generally the higher the GSM the quicker you can dry off and the more luxurious the feel is. The downside to heavy towels is that they take longer to dry, so make sure to hang them up after use so they stay fresh!

GOTS Cerified
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. This is is the world's leading rule for producing organic textiles through ethical and safe means, protecting both our planet and the people who help to manufacture the products. Some requirements for certification are that:

• Textiles must be at least 95% organic fibers
• Products must be free of toxic chemicals
  
• Manufacturers must follow strict guidelines in every step of the manufacturing and supply process
• Factories must treat their wastewater and minimize environmental impact
• Workers must be have safe work conditions and fair wages
• Facilities must pass at minimum yearly auditions

Organic
We see this word a lot, so let's break down what it means for textiles in simple terms. At minimum, certified organic fabrics must be made from fibers grown sustainably without GMOs or toxic pesticides or GMOs while following strict environmental and labor rules during production.

FSC-Certified Packaging
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifies certain packaging materials made from cardboard/paper, and wood as coming from sustainably manage forests or recycled sources. They enforce responsible sources for the materials, a detailed supply chain of custody, and other requirements through regular third-party audits. This helps reduce the overall environmental impact for product fulfillment.

To keep your towels soft and plush, we recommend washing them on a gentle cycle and then tumble-drying on low. Treat stains with diluted chlorine-free bleach OR hydrogen peroxide thirty minutes before washing. Do not use chlorine bleach. Always spot test stains before applying more product.
